Andani Thakhathi

Andani is currently a PhD Doctoral Candidate in Ethics and Responsible Leadership in Business at the Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics (WCGE) and the Martin Luther University (MLU) of Halle-Wittenberg in Germany.

Prior to joining the PhD programme, Andani was a post-graduate development fellow at the University of South Africa (Unisa) where he completed his Master of Commerce degree in Business Management specialising in the study of Sustainability and Strategic Management through the Strategy-as-Practice perspective. He is an inspired researcher who believes that all knowledge should help uplift humanity.

Before joining academia, he worked as a leadership development consultant for the African Leadership Group under the direct mentorship of BMF founder Eric Mafuna, where he facilitated workshops and led seminars on leadership development for corporate management and employees in state-owned and private sector companies.

Beyond academic borders, Andani has served in numerous youth development and community organisations culminating in him becoming a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and founding Secretary General of the Global Shapers Tshwane Hub. Under Andani’s co-leadership, the Tshwane Hub became one of the most vibrant hubs in the world. Andani is also a One Young World Ambassador (OYW 2013) and he has spoken to a variety of audiences including corporate executives, middle and junior managers, NGO’s, academics, tertiary students and school learners.

He has been featured in South Africa’s local and national media including Drum Magazine, SABC 2’s Morning Live, SABC’s PhalaPhala FM and he is often called upon to share his diverse insights with different sectors of society.
